Hillcrest Farmer's Market / Sundays, 9 am to 2 pm / Lincoln & Normal Streets, San Diego
The Hillcrest Farmers Market is one of the largest in San Diego and consists of about 175 vendors offering a wide variety of locally grown produce, gifts, arts and crafts, and flowers. It also hosts weekly entertainment, as well as a large variety of prepared hot foods with an emphasis on Greek, African, Indian, French, and Mexican cuisines. Poway Farmer's Market / Saturdays, 8 am to 1 pm / 14134 Midland Road at Temple St., Poway
Next to The Hamburger Factory and Boardwalk Craft Market, this market features plenty of parking off of Adrian Street, and about 65 produce, specialty, and hot food vendors with everything from homemade dog treats and pastas, to Middle Eastern dips, as well as two gluten-free booths. There are lots of hot homemade food options - crepes, fish tacos, tamales, BBQ, British, and Thai foods. La Vache sells every kind of French bread/pastry/quiche/croque monsieur and dessert imaginable, with croissants almost as big as a forearm. Tony Small's Cane Patch Pies features homemade sweet potato baked goods from his family's South Carolina recipes - incredible cinnamon rolls.
